Gah. I just can’t seem to find a template I like for this here blog.
Today, we are displaying a theme called Watson. I kind of like it, but at the same time, I don’t like it. I don’t like how there’s no sidebar on the individual post pages. I don’t like how Watson’s post formats have screwed up every single post in which I’ve ever used quotes. Hopefully, there’s enough that I do like about it to keep it sticking around. Otherwise I might have to switch again.
I like the slider thing at the top that shows you the latest posts:
I like the featured thumbnail thing where I can highlight some ancient posts that none of you have read that I really like:
I like the excerpt thing. I can now fit 25 posts on a page instead of 5. This same amount of space holds 4 posts, when it used to not even hold one:
I like how much more imagey this blog is now while not feeling cluttery. The problem is, I’ve never used featured images before because I’ve always displayed full posts.
So, for the last two days, I have been diligently going through every single post on this blog and editing, rearranging and adding featured images. There are 555 posts on this blog. It’s a big job. It’s taken me two days and I’m still only on page 10. I’m not sure how many pages there are exactly, but the last post I fixed was from October 4, 2011. This blog started in 2009. Fortunately, I wasn’t all that prolific in the beginning, but there’s still a lot more to do. Hopefully, it will only take me another day or so.
I just popped in to let you know why I have been absent and why it looks so different around here. I am just OCD enough to not feel right about writing new stuff when the old stuff is still a mess. I’ll be back! Carry on.
