What you see on the slides here are selections from a journal found in the possession of a Dissociative Identity Disorder patient in a state of temporary psychosis. The journal presents five distinct voices, each with its own style of speech, unique grammar and handwriting styles. Interestingly, there are some cohesive items, such as the way the date is written. These pages represented a breakthrough in the study of Dissociative Identity Disorder in that they clearly show the progression of the psychotic break from fear to control, and finally devolving into a series of symbols which probably made sense to the patient at the time…
