The thing is, I don’t really do awards posts anymore since they got to be a bit much. I’d forget about them and then feel badly about it, so I decided not to do them anymore.

However, she did ask some questions and questions, I can do.

How long have you been blogging?

Since MySpace was a thing. I think I wrote my first blog post on there around 2006. It was about my birthday since I have a tradition of writing on my birthday. It’s posted here if you’d care to read my very first blog post ever.

I started a proper blog called Fish of Gold around 2008 at Blogger. In 2009, I moved here to WordPress. Before that, this was my blog:

Who is your favorite superhero?

While I am a fairly avid comic book aficionado, I’m not a big fan of superheroes. I prefer comics like Preacher, Transmetropolitan (my favorite comic of all time), DMZ or The Walking Dead that have more anti-hero types or characters.

That said, if I have to pick a superhero, I’d pick Batman I suppose since his back story is the most interesting. I’d highly recommend reading Frank Miller‘s The Dark Knight Returns for the full glory of Batman. It’s my favorite of the Batman comics.

I’m also a big fan of Rorschach from Alan Moore’s brilliant epic The Watchmen.

Who is your favorite villain?

Again, in the Batman vein, I’d probably choose the Joker, but not the lame Joker, the real one. Read Alan Moore and Brian Bolland‘s graphic novel The Killing Joke for the Joker’s back story. Good stuff.

It’s probably fairly obvious at this point that I’m more of a DC fan (particularly Vertigo) than Marvel (though I do love the X-Men).

Are you making New Year’s resolutions this year?

Nope. Not a one. I don’t really do resolutions since I find they’re a good way to fail at doing things.

What sort of blogging goals do you have for the next year?

I don’t do goals either. I guess my blogging goal for next year is to keep on doing what I’m doing. If I can do that, that’s enough.

What is your quirkiest quirk?

Hm. Quirkiest quirk… I’m a very quirky quirk in general, so picking the quirkiest quirk is a little difficult. The first thing that pops to mind is freaking out about spending money, particularly if it’s on myself.

I recently bought a new printer, because if I’m really going to make a go of selling on Etsy, I need to have something that is capable of it. The printer I had is a decent all purpose printer, and it did an alright job on prints, but on Black Friday, I did some research and bought a new one.

Because it was Black Friday, I got the printer for $100 off its regular price and over 300 sheets of high quality photo paper for FREE: 250 sheets of 8.5×11″, 50 sheets of 13×19″ and some more 5×7″. Plus they threw in ink, a fancy solar calculator and photo album I’ll probably never use.

I got over $500 worth of stuff for less than $250. Still I was freaking out about it. It took about 24 hours to pull the trigger on the order and then I spent the next two days freaking out about spending $250, which honestly isn’t a lot of money in general, let alone a lot of money for all of that. That’s cheaper than the normal cost of the printer. Just the paper alone is worth about $200 (that’s called rationalizing right there).

You don’t realize just how big 13 x 19″ is until you get a huge box of paper and a printer that’s over 23″ wide. That’s BIG. All I need to do now is draw a zebra and I can print my own alphabet poster on 13″ x 19″ paper:

I’m still one zebra short of an alphabet, which really sounds like a euphemism for being crazy. I should have T-shirts printed with that saying. Speaking of T-shirts, my new fancy printer does heat transfers, so I could actually make my own T-shirts that say that. How ’bout them apples?

Are you a rule follower or a rule breaker?

I’m definitely a rule breaker, except when it comes to the law, then I’m a rule follower. But, for things I couldn’t get arrested for, I’m as iconoclast and contrary as it gets. I’m stubborn as a mule.

What type of music do you like?

Good grief. It would be easier to answer what kind of music don’t I like. The answer is that I can handle about 20 minutes of the following genres: “New” country, “nu” metal, contemporary Christian, acid or free-form jazz, black metal, most top 40 songs, and rave type electronic music. I like everything else.

What distracts you the most from what you should be doing?

This blog. Seriously, number 1 on the distractions list is FOG. Coming in at number 2 is drawing little critters for my Redbubble and Etsy shops.

What is next on your bucket list?

Hm. That’s a good question. Seeing as I’m not much of a planner, I’m not sure what’s next, but here’s a list of things I’d like to do before I die. I suppose next would be the first thing on that list, which is finish writing a complete work of fiction.
