For some reason, I got it into my head to wonder how many times I do the things that I do pretty much every day and decided to count them. This is an accounting of the number of times I did things on average workday, which was yesterday.

Yesterday, my head was swimming with numbers and it was hard to keep everything straight. I did my best though. I wouldn’t recommend doing this exercise because you’ll still be counting silly things the next day.

• Saw 1 sunrise.
• Said “Hello, hi, hola, hey, good morning, buenos dias or good night” 78 times.
• Had 47 in-person conversations with 34 different people.
• Answered 5 phone calls.
• Received and sent 9 emails.
• Received 14 text messages.
• Sent 11 text messages.
• Wrote 1 blog post with 1,610 words.
• Uploaded 7 pictures.
• 99 visitors viewed 161 things:
  
• Answered 18 blog comments.
• 1 Tweet.
• 1 Facebook status update.
• Spent $23.97 total.
• $5.99 for new iPad drawing software for my new-to-me iPad.
• Deposited 2 checks for $180. $100 Christmas check from my parents and $80 from Male to send him some stuff he left behind. Male’s had for “Interstate Drug Trafficking” written in the reference field (smartass).
• Read 12 blog posts.
• Listened to 98 songs.
• Skipped about 30 more.
• Made it through 3 levels of Candy Crush Saga. Wasted at least a dozen lives on level 100. Fuck you, level 100. Fuck you right in your stupid candy eye.
• Drove 42.8 miles.
• Spent 72 minutes in the car.
• Drove on 3 freeways.
• Got stuck at 31 red lights.
• Sold 2 stickers on Redbubble: 1 fox, 1 bat.
• Petted 11 different dogs.
• Petted 2 cats.
• Walked my dog 3 times.
• Cleaned up 5 piles of poop (only 2 of them were my dog’s).
• Spent 56 minutes at the dog park.
• Kicked or threw a ball 46 times.
• Ate 1 piece of pie. Homemade pecan, leftover from Christmas.
• Cleaned 1 litter box.
• Saw 1 sunset.
• Spent 2 hours playing with new iPad drawing software.
• Recognized 6 constellations by sight: Orion, Cassiopeia, Pleiades (The 7 Sisters), Castor, Pollux and Canis Major.
• Looked up 5 more (with the help of sky map).
• Recognized 1 planet: Jupiter. Saw 2 more: Uranis and Neptune (with the help of sky map).
  
• Took 2,296 steps.
• Slept 6.5 hours.
