Three Years Already?

Well, what do you know.

Three years! Thanks for reminding me,WP, because I wouldn’t have known otherwise. My timeline is all messed up since FOG started out at another site that rhymes with Frogger in 2009. Apparently, it was three years ago to the day that I clicked on the import blog thing and never looked back. Whoop-dee-shit!

In three years, I’ve written 559 posts (not including this one), two of which have been Freshly Pressed. In three years, FOG has been viewed over 50,000 times. There have been over 4,000 witty-as-shit comments from awesome people, over 4,000 likes and FOG has more followers than posts. More followers than posts. Wow.

Considering I haven’t done a lick of promotion for this blog, like, ever, that ain’t half bad. FOG doesn’t have a Facebook page, a Twitter account and I didn’t sign up for any of those bloggy network things. None of this blog’s subscribers are people I know in the real world. I like it that way. None of my real-world friends read this blog, because I would find that awkward. I haven’t met any of you in person, but you are all my WordPress family.

So, thanks, WordPress for making this my permanent home. And thanks to those of you reading this for reading this. Without you, it would be very lonely indeed. It would be like the early days again when I would sometimes approve spam comments to not feel so very all on my lonesome in the big bad interwebs.

If you subscribe to this blog, feel free to take a WP family award that was given to me recently by Not Quite Alice at My Rabbit Hole Trips, MerBear74 at Knocked Over By A Feather and Shaun at Praying For One Day, because you’re a part of mine.

I know it’s not following the rules to give it out to all of you, but you all deserve it. Thanks for making this little corner of the web my second home. Y’all rock. Much love from the Fish. xoxo.

Huge congrats on that, friend. :D 3 years is a big deal. & That is the prettiest darn blog award I’ve ever seen. It makes me want to rethink my awards policy.
That is so sweet of you to give it out to all of us.

Well done Goldfish and thanks for being here for all of us with all your wonderful posts for all these years!
I hear what you’re saying about real-world friends – some of the people I know read my blog and sometimes I have to think about what I’m writing, just in case…

No, it’s not perfect, but it certainly does more then any other blogging platforms I know to foster a tight-knit community.

Wow! Three years. That’s awesome. I hope to keep the kingdom going that long too. I just start last August, so I’ve got a long way to go… I wonder how my posting habits will change over that time. Will I continue to post as frequently as I do? Will I keep up the routines I’ve got for the Thursday and Friday posts? Will I change up the theme? My gravatar? (I’ve already changed the header photo once.) I guess we’ll just have to see! Congratulations on reaching such a great milestone. I know it probably doesn’t feel like anything special – but in our fast paced world I think it is amazing when anything lasts longer than a year…

Thanks! This blog has changed appearance a lot and my posting schedule hasn’t always been steady, but we’re still going strong. Hopefully, you’ll do the same. :)

Thank you! Promotion is difficult, especially when you’re dealing with such sensitive topics as we do. It’s enough that we put them up for people to find, but the thought of driving people to it, makes me uncomfortable. Keep at it! :)
